Our First Big Business Purchase—And Why It’s a Game-Changer! 🎉📸

Hey friends! Jenay and I are over-the-moon excited about something HUGE in our photography journey—we just made our first big purchase with the earnings from Wild Roots Photography! 🎉

Okay, maybe it’s not “huge” to everyone, but to us? It’s a dream come true. It’s proof that all the hard work we’ve put in these last few months is paying off, and we’re so proud of how far we’ve come!

How It All Started ✨

For those who don’t know, Wild Roots Photography was born in November 2024, and it has been a wild (see what we did there? 😆) and amazing ride ever since.

We kicked things off with Christmas mini sessions and family photoshoots, capturing sweet, cozy moments for families just like ours. From the very beginning, we relied heavily on Golden Hour photography—that dreamy, soft, glowy light right before sunset that makes everyone look amazing.

Honestly? I (Ashley) used to think photography was just point, click, and snap a great photo, but Jenay—who’s basically a wizard with lighting—has taught me so much about the technical side of things.

Why We Needed an Upgrade 🔆📷

As much as we LOVE Golden Hour, there’s one little problem—it only happens once a day and for a short period of time. That meant we had to schedule everything around it, cross our fingers for good weather, and hope the light didn’t change too fast.

But here’s the thing… we wanted more flexibility. We wanted to be able to shoot:
✅ Indoors without worrying about bad lighting
✅ On cloudy days when the sun just won’t cooperate
✅ Anytime of day without harsh shadows messing up the shot

So, we made a BIG decision…

Our First Major Business Investment: Professional Photography Lighting! 💡🎉

Drumroll, please… 🥁 We finally invested in a professional lighting kit that allows us to take gorgeous, well-lit photos ANYTIME, ANYWHERE!

✨ No more stressing over daylight hours
✨ Perfect lighting indoors and outdoors
✨ More creative control over every shot

This is a total game-changer for us! It means we can offer more flexible scheduling, take on new types of sessions, and make sure every single client gets beautifully lit, professional-quality photos—no matter the time or place.

What’s Next for Wild Roots Photography? 🚀

The best part? We’re putting our new lighting gear to work right away! In just a few weeks, we’ll be using it to capture stunning spring portraits for a local homeschool co-op. 🌿📸

Honestly, it still feels surreal that we’ve built a real, thriving photography business from scratch. But this is just the beginning, and we cannot wait to see what’s next!
