Gardening for the Not-So-Green Thumb: My Spring Garden Journey (Again) 🌱🌸

Confessions of a Struggling Gardener: Will This Be the Year? 🌱🤞

Ah, springtime! The season of new beginnings, sunshine, and—gulp—gardening. Yay! (Insert sarcasm here. 😅)

This will be my umpteenth attempt at starting a successful spring garden. Every year, I scroll through social media and see these picture-perfect gardens, bursting with color and overflowing with fresh produce. My absolute favorite videos? The ones where people casually say, “Let’s go shopping in my garden for dinner tonight!” Then, they waltz outside and pluck entire cauliflowers, crisp bell peppers, and fresh herbs—oh, and let’s not forget the folks who stroll into their chicken coops for fresh eggs like they live in some kind of fairy tale.

Meanwhile, here I am… staring at my sad little patch of dirt, wondering if I somehow have a black thumb. Spoiler alert: I am definitely not a garden fairy. 🧚‍♀️

But, despite my less-than-stellar track record, I really want to learn. I really want to have a thriving vegetable garden. So, in yet another attempt to make this happen, I’ve joined a gardening support group on Facebook. It consists of about five of my friends—who, by the way, are all way better gardeners than me. My hope? That just by being in their presence (even virtually), their gardening fairy dust will somehow blow my way. 😂

🌿 The 2025 Garden Plan

So, here we go again! This year, I’m planting:

Tomatoes 🍅

Basil 🌿

Jalapeños 🌶️

Red & Green Bell Peppers 🫑

Cilantro 🌱

Lemon Balm 🍋

Lavender 💜

I know I’ll end up trying other things too, because let’s be honest—I have zero self-control when it comes to buying plants. (Tell me I’m not alone in this?!)

Help a Struggling Gardener Out!

If you’re a gardening pro, I need you. Desperately. Any advice, tips, tricks, or even just moral support is welcome! How do you keep your plants alive? Here’s to hoping that this is the year I finally grow something other than disappointment. 😂🌱
